The views in this post do not necessarily reflect the views of SSPH! We used friction to our advantage when belaying or surging, and we reduced friction as much as possible when hauling or striking sail. It was aboard these big boats that I was first introduced to Jan Adkins. Simple forces applied intelligently should carry the day. This is no snub of wile or cleverness or inventiveness, only a caution against dissipating your efforts in the bother and friction of complication. Elizabeth, our former 28ft cutter was rigged simply. We prefer it that way. What we enjoyed most about sailing Elizabeth was the ease with which her sails went up, came down and reefed. The battenless main allowed her slugs to slide effortlessly up the track. Her single sheave halyard enabled us to raise the main in less than 10 seconds, without a winch.

This is the best solution if you have paved area. Next solution is Quick Hitches like in pictures. QH’s bring their own problem of extending the implement which usually isn’t a problem if the implement doesn’t have a drive shaft. If the implement has a drive shaft then the QH may make the drive shaft to short to work. I have three different type QHs. Pats was the strongest and most expensive and I’ve sold mine.
One extends back like Pats and the other lets the implement sit on top of the QH or under it which brings it closer to the tractor. I prefer the QH that lets the implement sit on top of the arm or under the arm but I recently had a problem with my tiller breaking a retaining ring which of its self isn’t that big of a problem but shows me that there is a lot of slack using my QH under the arm by letting the tiller do a lot of moving back and forth on the arm at the attachment point.
These are the basic specifications. The full standards include additional specifications on dimensions and geometry. Seems like a great idea! Just back up to any implement, click, click, and drive away!
Great product. I’m able to hook up my 3 point in a couple of minutes by myself instead of taking 20 minutes and two people with a big hammer. Buy it, well worth the money.
This required a change in the chain wheel on the Lofrans windlass. In both of these anchors were replaced by a Manson Supreme I retained the Bruce as my backup anchor for several years, but it no longer sat in a roller on the bow. In I sold the Bruce and replaced it with a Fortress Anchor. Sarah came with Lofrans Royal manual windlass, which I replaced with a Quick Hector electric windlass in I have created a separate page on the installation of that windlass.
I was initially concerned that if the windlass failed I would not be able to bring an all chain rode aboard by hand.

Chris Ed Miller 7 October Chris – The link to the manual did work at 2nd try, so the site owner probably had the link down temporarily. I bought two parts to replace the tineshaft oil seals, but I noticed a problem with spacing. The tine assembly has just under 2″ between the bolt hole and the inside edge which buts up against the housing or gear cover on the left.

The station began as the location for a beacon for the port of Maryborough in the s, to a pilot station in the late s and a light and signal station in the early s. For more than a century the light station and pilots at Inskip were responsible for the safety of ships at sea. It was a lonely way of life for a succession of men, often with families, as they responded to the call of people in need.

May 20, · 3 pt. tiller hookup frustrating So I finally received delivery on my L over the weekend and have enjoyed putting a few hours on brush hogging. Then this evening I decided it was time to switch over to the 6′ Befco tiller to turn under the garden and start to mix in manure.
Got a fishing question? That’s what we’re here for. You’re expecting Winnie to turn over soon? And after that no fish? I always thought they kept their feed bag on until ice hits. Here’s a link to the original comment. The peak of activity is occurring right now as is always the case. Pre-turnover is the most active feeding period of the fall, but post-turnover doesn’t stop the fish from feeding, it just signals a change in how you approach catching them i.
We will find a productive places to fish, but after the surface temperatures dip into the lower 50 degree range, surface water sinks to the bottom and warmer watrer rises to the top. This reminds me of the old coffee pot on the stove as it just starts to perk. The affect of this turnover is that now all of the water in the lake is equally Oxygenated and becomes similar in temperature.
Fish that were forced to inhabit the shallows when deep water became un-inhabitable during late summer are now free to roam until they locate preferred structure and or bait supplies. When turnover occurs and the large schools of fish seem to disappear, we look for lakes that either haven’t turned yet or in some cases, lakes that never turnover i. Watch for additional information soon.

It does not take much to starat bending or flexing this so called hitch mount, and I would have to believe that that extension as in the first image would put a ot of stress on the hitch. One time I was dead set on converting ll my hitches to ball type, but the biggest obstacle I ran into was getting the coupler portions in sizes that would fit various towed items tongue widths, without having to drastically modify the tongues with shims etc to fit the couplers.
Its also easy to overload them instead of just having the hitch pin type tongue top section start to bend a bit when overloaded, you have a tendancy to not take notice sometimes. Yo know how it is, just a few more shovel fulls or a few more rocks should be OK, and thats all it takes to reach or exceed that max limit. Its not hard to raise a ball up to sufficient height.
